About the Dish

Saoji Chicken is a Maharashtrian delicacy, but hails from the Saoji community in Nagpur and Vidarbha. This group of people comes from a community of weavers, Halba Koshtis, and are famous for their spicy non-vegetarian food. After migrating from Madhya Pradesh, they set up small eateries to present their spicy food, but each family has their own way of preparing it. To make their masala they use about 30 ingredients which makes their dish tasty and authentic.

How to Eat

To best enjoy this dish, you can eat it with chapati or with some steamed rice. To eat with chapati, break it into a bite sized piece and dip it in the gravy with a piece of chicken. If you're eating with rice, pour the gravy over the rice and mix it up. The dish is supposed to be enjoyed hot as the dish is mildly spicy. It can be eaten as lunch or dinner with your family and friends.
