This is a famous fish recipe from the state of West Bengal having a trademark highly spicy stew. It is traditionally seasoned with turmeric, garlic, grated ginger and onions. Tomatoes render a reddish hue to the final product whereas potatoes act as a thickening agent. Typically fishes like Hilsa, Rohu and Katla are preferred. It is generally served with rice.
