Kunda is a dessert that originated in Belagav which is in North Karnataka at present. At the time of the reign of Shivaji Maharaj (the Peshwas), Belagav was in Maharashtra, where this dessert was popularly eaten by the royals.
Kunda is made with reduced full cream milk, sugar, dry fruits, chennar(paneer), cardamom and edible fried gum. It’s hardened to a cake like consistency. It’s garnished with chopped dry fruits. Some may say that kunda is a variation of the popular dessert milk cake.
