About the Dish
Sabudana Khichdi consists of tapioca pearls (regional name- Sabudana or Sago). This is a Maharashtrian delicacy and people usually make when they are fasting. Sabudana Kichdi is a popular dish throughout India and gains demand during fasts on days of Shivratri or Navratri. In major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Nagpur, and others, it’s a famous street food delicacy. It’s also known as Sabudana Usal in Maharashtra’s Vidabha region and is a healthy delicacy as it is gluten free and promotes muscle growth.
How to Eat
The dish is supposed to be enjoyed hot with some curd to balance the meal. The sabudana has a soft texture when eating but the groundnuts give it a crunchy texture as well. It can be consumed as a snack or as a meal at lunch and not very spicy.
