Ukadiche Modak, also called Modak, is a Maharashtrian delicacy and is a popular sweet in India. Ukadiche means steamed, however, it has two variations, fried and mawa modak. According to Hindu mythology, Ukadiche Modak is the most-loved sweet of Lord Ganesha and because of this he gets the name, Modakpriya. Modak has other regional names, such as, modhaka in Kannada, Telugu call it kudumu, and modhakam from Tamil. This delicacy is popular during Ganesh Chaturthi and is available in almost every household in the country.
