I lived in the small town of Pusad near Yavatmal. My father had four brothers and I had 12 cousins- I was raised in a large vibrant Bohra family. We kids went to a boarding school near Wardha. I was barely in class IV when I first went there! Staying away from home made me miss two things terribly- my bed and good food. So naturally, my vacations were spent on hogging all sorts of non-veg delicacies. We would have elaborate family lunches, with my father and uncles barbecuing in our back yard. And we would help our moms with other household work like setting up table for meals, cleaning up later on. I think this passion grew on me since that very first summer vacation from boarding school. My father was an excellent cook and he made lip smacking Bhuna Mutton. And after my marriage, so was my husband! I have always been in a large family, surrounded by people who loved cooking and feeding. Later on, I joined cooking classes to learn different cuisines, even taught some of my own. We started a food page “Mom’s Kitchen” on Facebook a few years ago where we took Biryani and snacks orders. Now I am a happy grandmother and glad to be working from home on my free time!
