An Indian person unfamiliar with Chiwda is an oxymoron in itself. Chiwda as a snack has been so deeply imbibed in our history that it is almost a traditional snack now. Each family has their own unique way of making it, just like our chef has. She makes it in a typical Maharashtrian style by mixing Daaliya, fried peanuts, diced coconuts, sun dried onions and a melange of spices with Poha. A little sweet, a little sour..this Chiwda is sure to remind you of home!

Chiwda today is found all over the world, with slight variations of course. In Sri Lanka it is mixed with exotic nuts, whereas in England and Ireland it doesn’t have nuts at all. Even eastern African countries savour it with some sugar. Well, in India it is best had with finely chopped onions and coriander leaves for garnish.
