Description
Dal Khichdi, also known as Khichuri, is a Gujarati delicacy. It’s one of the oldest dishes as some of its traces were around 303 B.C. after a campaign by a Greek king. Several travellers have mentioned about Khichdi in their notes and was even famous with the Mughals like Jahangir. The word Khichdi derives from the sanskrit word, ‘khicca’, a dish of rice and legumes. The dish has its regional variations across different cultures in India and is very popular because of its versatility. Khichdi is the ‘comfort food’ of India as it’s easy and quick to make, and has great taste.
